Preventative Actions | Stolen + Lost Pet Resources

WHEN MICROCHIPPING ISN’T ENOUGH.

There are 184M dogs and cats in the US. It is estimated that 1 in 3 pets are lost in their lifetime.

Close to 10 Million are lost or stolen and less than 23% of those are reunited with their family.

When our girl Lucy was stolen from our front yard, we wanted to bring awareness and support to others in preventative measures they can take, as well as resources for those who have had the unfortunate experience of a lost or stolen pet.

We have since learned this is a growing problem and stems from the lack of legal consequences, and the opportunity to make quick cash by stealing our pets and selling them to unsuspecting buyers.

We created EndPetTheft.org to bring awareness to this issue, provide a resource of preventative actions you can take to reduce threats of theft or loss, and information on what to do if your pet has gone missing.

A quick video about our experience with pet theft + what we’re doing about it:

We want to help save as many owners and pets from the journey we’ve been on with Lucy.

Our Story

Looking back, we realize how naive we were to the potential threat of our girl Lucy being targeted for theft- and to be so bold as to take her from our our home. We’ve since learned this is a growing problem and stems from the lack of legal consequences for pet thieves.

Where is Lucy Now?

Unfortunately, we’re not sure- but we’re not stopping now. Not only will we never give up hope for Lucy coming home, but we’re working to create Lucy’s Law to increase standards for pet theft and recovery in California by law enforcement.
